Individual Therapy

A Space to Understand Yourself, Heal, and Grow

Sometimes we know something needs to change, but we aren't sure where to begin.

You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck in familiar patterns, or simply aware that the way you've been coping isn't working anymore.

Individual therapy provides a supportive space to slow down, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and develop new ways of responding to life's challenges.

I work collaboratively with each client to create therapy that is tailored to their individual experiences, needs, and goals.

What Brings People to Therapy

People seek individual therapy for many different reasons. You don't need to have a specific diagnosis or know exactly what's wrong in order to benefit from therapy.

I work with individuals experiencing:

  • Anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • Stress and burnout

  • Life transitions and major changes

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Repeating relationship patterns

  • Self-esteem and self-worth concerns

  • Difficulty setting boundaries

  • Communication challenges

  • Emotional regulation difficulties

  • Recovery and addiction-related concerns

  • Trauma and difficult life experiences

  • Personal growth and greater self-understanding

Sometimes the most important starting point is simply having a place where you can be honest about what you're experiencing.

Understanding Your Patterns

Many of us develop ways of thinking, feeling, and responding that once helped us cope but may no longer serve us.

These patterns can show up in relationships, communication, emotional reactions, boundaries, work, and the way we see ourselves.

Therapy can help you become more aware of these patterns without judgment, understand where they come from, and begin developing new choices.

My goal is not to tell you who you should be. It is to help you better understand yourself so that you can make more intentional decisions about the life and relationships you want to create.

Relationships Begin With Our Relationship With Ourselves

Even when you come to therapy for an individual concern, relationships are often part of the conversation.

Our early experiences, attachment patterns, beliefs about ourselves, and previous relationships can influence how we communicate, set boundaries, respond to conflict, and connect with others.

Exploring these patterns can help you develop greater self-awareness and create healthier ways of relating—both to yourself and to the people in your life.

Trauma-Informed & EMDR Therapy

Some experiences continue to affect us long after they have happened.

You may understand intellectually that something is in the past while still experiencing emotional, physical, or relational reactions that feel very present.

I incorporate trauma-informed approaches into my work and have completed EMDR training.

When appropriate, EMDR can be used to help process distressing experiences and reduce the intensity of memories, triggers, and responses that continue to affect your life.

Trauma-informed therapy emphasizes safety, collaboration, choice, and respect for your individual pace.

Recovery & Addiction

My background in addiction counseling is an important part of the perspective I bring to individual therapy.

I hold a CADC III credential and have nearly three decades of experience in addiction counseling and recovery.

Whether you are navigating recovery, questioning your relationship with substances, supporting someone affected by addiction, or exploring how addictive patterns have influenced your relationships and emotional well-being, my experience allows us to look at these concerns from both a clinical and recovery-informed perspective.

My Approach

I believe therapy should be both compassionate and practical.

My approach draws from evidence-based and relational perspectives, including CBT, ACT, DBT, attachment-based approaches, mindfulness, EMDR, Gottman concepts, and Relational Life Therapy-informed work.

I tailor the work to you rather than expecting you to fit into a particular therapeutic model.

Taking the First Step

You don't have to know exactly what you need from therapy before reaching out.

If you're considering individual therapy, I invite you to contact me for a consultation. We can talk about what you're experiencing, what you're hoping to change, and whether we might be a good fit.
